Mahila Placemat
$40.00 CAD
Designed for lovers of beautiful tables and authentic gestures, Mahila placemats are the fruit of meticulous craftsmanship from the Kandal region, in Cambodia. Each piece is hand-woven from river rush, a natural fiber harvested locally.
The manufacturing follows a slow and rigorous process: the rushes are harvested, sorted, dyed, then carefully dried before being hand-woven – a job that takes nearly two days per set. The result: lively, vibrant pieces that develop a patina with time and gain character with use and light.
Each set is edged with thin black fringes, highlighting its unique patterns with elegant discretion. Woven according to tradition, they are made at home by artisan women, on a loom installed under the stilts of their house. Work that respects their pace, their creativity and their environment, while enhancing local craftsmanship.
Care instructions: Clean with a damp sponge.
