Rio coffee table – A design masterpiece by Charlotte Perriand
The Rio coffee table is an iconic piece of modern design, conceived by Charlotte Perriand in 1962. Originally, it was designed as a set of two tables. In 1967, a larger version was specially created for the Japanese Embassy in Paris, highlighting its artistic and functional character.
A sculptural and timeless design
The unique beauty of the Rio table lies in its distinctive geometric shape and its perfect balance between aesthetics and functionality. Its structure consists of six solid wood segments, each with a different and offset radius, creating a captivating jagged silhouette. At its center, a circular void acts as a visual point of gravity, providing a sense of balance.
Faithful re-edition by Cassina
Thanks to the exceptional craftsmanship of the artisans of Meda, in the Brianza region north of Milan, Cassina re-edited Charlotte Perriand's original model in 1962, scrupulously respecting the lines and materials of the original creation.
