Gwenaelle
Co-founder

She took over from her grandmother alongside her cousin to open La Maison Générale in Montreal – a family story that has lasted since 1946. After several years of practice as a lawyer in large firms, an MBA at HEC Montréal, then a stint at Montréal International, where she supported French companies in their establishment, she is now taking the plunge into entrepreneurship. This time, it's her company that she's setting up in Montreal: a Franco-Canadian project where design, heritage and the art of living meet.
Aline
Decoration and customer experience project manager

Passionate about travel and discovering new cultures, she began her career by studying tourism in Paris. This apprenticeship allowed her to explore various careers in the sector: tour guide, aviation, high-end travel agencies, and organizing exceptional cultural trips to the most beautiful countries in the world.
Eager to take on new challenges, she then broadened her expertise by working in the banking and then real estate sectors. Always driven by a desire to learn and reinvent herself, she began studying design in Quebec. It was in this context that she discovered La Maison Générale, a decisive encounter that opened a promising new chapter in her career.
Dominique
Co-founder and Artistic Director

I've always been passionate about the art of living, interior design, and the beauty of simple but well-made things. It was this passion that led me to study interior design and architecture, where I learned to create unique and inspiring spaces.
La Maison Générale has its roots in a family history rich in expertise and tradition. Originally founded by my grandmother, Lucienne Thibaut, as a small boutique showcasing craftsmanship and everyday objects, the company has evolved over the generations while remaining true to its values of authenticity and elegance.
In 2009, I founded La Maison Générale in Saint-Malo, with the aim of modernizing this heritage while creating a unique space where the past meets the present. Today, this family adventure is expanding internationally with the opening of our first boutique in Montreal this year, a milestone in our development.
What motivates me every day is seeing our customers leave with a sparkle in their eyes, inspired by the world we've created. La Maison Générale is much more than just a store: it's a human and artistic adventure that allows me to express my creativity while highlighting artisans and brands that share our values.
I am proud of the progress we have made and enthusiastic about continuing to develop La Maison Générale, while remaining faithful to what defines us: authenticity, elegance and the desire to share our passion.
Marie
Head of Digital Strategy and Branding

Driven by boundless curiosity and unlimited creativity, she explores and imagines to bring ideas to life that leave a lasting impression and inspire. Born in Brittany, she studied digital communication and influencer marketing in Rennes. This expertise, combined with her organizational skills and creative flair, naturally led her to positions as a communications and marketing manager. In her previous experiences, she had the opportunity to design and manage innovative projects combining strategy, creation, and execution. Living in Montreal since 2022, she fell in love with this vibrant and inspiring city. Originally from Brittany, she was already very familiar with La Maison Générale boutiques, being herself passionate about design and decoration. When she learned of the arrival of the famous concept store in Montreal, she seized the opportunity to meet Gwenaëlle and Dominique. Today, she is proud to be part of the team and to contribute to the influence of La Maison Générale on the other side of the Atlantic.
