Mahila Placemat
$40.00
Designed for lovers of beautiful tables and authentic gestures, Mahila placemats are the result of meticulous know-how from the Kandal region of Cambodia. Each piece is hand-woven from river rush , a natural fiber harvested locally.
The manufacturing process follows a slow and rigorous process: the rushes are harvested, sorted, dyed, then carefully dried before being handwoven – a process that takes nearly two days per set. The result: lively, vibrant pieces that develop a patina over time and gain character with use and light.
Each set is edged with fine black fringes , highlighting its unique patterns with elegant discretion. Woven according to tradition, they are made at home by women artisans , on a loom installed under the stilts of their house. A work that respects their rhythm, their creativity and their environment, while promoting local craftsmanship.
Mahila , a meeting between the beauty of handmade and the ethics of everyday life.
